Viviana Avila Lindo has been a broadcast journalist since 1997. This multifaceted journalist started her career as a general assignment reporter with Canal Uno, reporting for the "Uninoticias" newscast in Bogota, Colombia. Thanks to her outstanding performance, she was assigned to cover the political beat. Avila Lindo had the opportunity of reporting on the peace negotiations between the Colombian government and the FARC, one of the largest guerrilla groups in the country. She was also sent to cover the Ibero American Summit of Presidents in Porto, Portugal.
In 2000 Viviana moved to Washington D.C., where she worked as a correspondent for RADIO UNICA until 2004. Also in the nation’s capital, she became a foreign correspondent for the some of the largest Latin-American TV networks such as Caracol TV, Ecuavisa, Venevisión, Azteca America, and had the opportunity to file reports for the BBC of London. While in the U.S.A. she has had stings in New York, Atlanta, Phoenix, and Los Angeles.
From 2005 to 2009, Avila Lindo Was in charge of the Chicago Bureau of TV Azteca. Currently she reports as a freelancer, from the Windy City, for Univision Network and EFE News Agency.
